Have you had a problem with a company and you want to write a complaint letter but feel lost about how to do so effectively? I've written quite a few complaint letters in my life, for both myself and others, and I've had some pretty amazing results at times... Refunds, free services, gift certificates, etc. I'm willing to do the same for you! See just a few of my example successes below:
- I ordered New Year's Eve dinner from a local restaurant. The meal arrived minus both the baked potato and the stuffing. I was not happy. I wrote a complaint to the company on their FB page and was told they would make it up to me the next day. I was invited to call the manager. I received another dinner free of charge that night with the added bonus of a piece of pie (and of course an apology for poor service.)
- I ordered a 50" tv from Best Buy and paid $50 for scheduled delivery, they assured me that the delivery service included having someone set it up for me for that price. When the day came for delivery, it was merely dropped off and when I told them it was supposed to be set up, they said no but eventually agreed to just lift it out of the box and that was all. I contacted a manager at Best Buy and the $50 delivery fee was refunded to me.
- One year I took my mother out for Thanksgiving Dinner at a local restaurant. The meal was awful. I faxed a letter of complaint to the owner and received an apology and a gift certificate for two.
- I had Revenue Canada withdraw funds from my bank account over a tax disagreement. I faxed a letter of complaint to the appropriate Minister in Ottawa and EVERY CENT WAS RETURNED TO MY BANK ACCOUNT and I received an apology from the local office.
Training & Qualifications
Although I don't think one requires a university degree to be able to communicate effectively, I do have a B.A. But more importantly, I have spent my working life communicating with the public and with other businesses, often via writing but also over the phone and in person. I also spent several years working in law offices on legal paperwork and with clients.
Availability & Preferences
Most days are open. I usually work afternoons and evenings. But I am flexible.
