About Trevor Clark
I am an herbalist and avid student of the plants. I began studying herbs after being diagnosed with several chronic pain conditions after a spinal fusion. I was in bed for around 4 years before I foun...d the herbs that set me on the path towards healing. After regaining my life I became obsessed with studying plant medicine. I was trained as a Western herbalist at Bastyr University in Washington state. While a student I followed an ethnobotanical lead on a largely forgotten Cherokee herb and discovered a chemical not known to exist in any native plant in North America, thereby broadening the therapeutic index of that herb. After graduating in Herbal Sciences I spent time studying herbs abroad and working on various farms, one owned by a supplement company. I then worked in botanical medicine research for 4 years on projects ranging from an NCCAM integrative oncology translational outcomes study, researching ayahuasca for an FDA investigational new drug license (IND), and working on botanical heritage preservation. I left the windowless constraints of the analytical lab and medical chart room to perform a two month, 650 mile solo canoe trip where I cataloged native botanical medicines of Alabama. I was able to get 9 corporate sponsors for this trip and all I had to do was write a blog; which ended up with around 132,000 readers. I joined my friends in Denver, CO in October 2015 as a botanical supplement formulator for their cannabis company, where we strive to return cannabis to its rightful place in the herbal medicine cabinet. I joke that I use cannabis as a gateway herb to introduce people to herbal medicine! I am adjunct faculty for the Botanical Medicine Department at Bastyr University. I am also co-investigator on an IND project to give ayahuasca prescription drug status, for treatment resistant depression in otherwise healthy adults. show moreOpen to other proposals
