Mandala Painting

Trade
Only

25 value - Virtual OK - Posted Jul 09, 2016

No longer trading in Simbi. Only trading for goods and services, with a strong preference for physical goods.

I will paint you a mandala. These take longer than my other paintings as they're very finicky to get built correctly - usually two weeks to a month is required as I lay out a bit, allow it to dry, and make sure that bit worked. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

For those of you who use mandalas in personal spiritual things: I'm completely willing to accommodate that, with the explicit requirement that the the mandala not be used to breach consent.

That said, I'm an ethicist rather than a spiritualist and lay no claim that a mandala from me will do anything more than not breach consent.

These take me many hours to make, from layout to paint and ink to the digital editing stage - and making one requires a very specific mindset, which gets in the way of other work. As such, I prefer trading these for physical goods.

Personal use only: Unless we've negotiated otherwise, you're welcome to print and hang this art, but not to resell it. Thank-you.

Training & Qualifications

A professional artist since 1990, working in inversions since 200-something mumble something probably 4. A civilized human being/mechanical entity. Published and whatnot. Really, however, I figure the work represents itself best. If you like it: Excellent. If not, that's cool too and there are plenty of other awesome artists here you can nab work from.

Availability & Preferences

My availability usually ranges from two to ten days to start a project, but can go as far out as three months if I get slammed.

Trading Preference: Trade only – I just want direct exchanges

Damn. I have no words to describe the mandala piece Wetdryvac made for me, but here is my attempt. I got a ridiculously gorgeous mandala that I can't ...wait to print and hang up. Wetdryvac asked me what elements Id like to see, and my interest were so gracefully translated onto the artwork. The passion and talent is truly evident in Wetdryvac's pieces... The colors in this are perfect and the details are enchanting. Also, excellent communication! I'm forever in awe. show more

About Wetdryvac WDV

I'm willing to negotiate on ALL trades, but: No longer trading in Simbi. Only trading for goods and services, with a strong preference for physical goods. Figure my current rate to be 1 pound of high ...quality rice or dry beans per simbi, or the equivalent. And, since people keep coming to trade in simbi despite everything saying, "Nope, just physical goods and services," I've removed the simbi option from everything. Henceforth, ask, and - if I'm not doing paying work elsewhere - I'll give you a rate in dry goods. Figure it won't be cheap. I dropped *hundeds* of hours of work here, for thousands of simbi, and the adding of the marketplace and other issues completely crushed the virtual economy. Figure for art? I'm expecting a *lot* of rice and beans, or lots of equivalent hours for your creations, for the hours I'm putting in. I prefer to work for physical goods - if you trade me anything from art supplies to dry goods, it will seriously make my day. However, no discounts for volume or for just wanting a lower price. I have to turn down other paying work to take work here, so I have to make sure I'm taking in an equivalent amount in trade. There's an exception on certain types volume trades: If the work is something I can script after setting up the first component, than that means I charge less for additional pieces. This only applies to some vector rebuilds and similar scriptable projects. The Vac of Wetdryvac.net, artist, author, contract/consent ethicist, and creator of oddments. I'm using Simbi primarily in digital context right now, and have worked more large projects here than I expected to. Seriously enjoying both the work and the people. Feel free to contact me for illustration, web development - Drupal and Wordpress, mostly - and for art projects with unusual requirements. For that matter, if you think what I have on offer here implies the possibility of another skill you'd like to take advantage of, please feel free to ask, "Hey, can you do this thing?" If you'd like a physical print of something you've had me create for you, while I can't print it for you myself and send it, I'm happy to upload your piece to RedBubble, Artflakes, or Zazzle, where you can get it as a print or on other things as well. This is sometimes a bit more expensive than taking the digital file to your local print company, but has the advantage of convenience. I can also upload transparent PNG files to TeePublic, which saves some money up front on newly placed shirts, but I don't have enough experience with them yet to vouch for quality, so don't go this route unless you've used them before and are confident in their services. Regarding UV resistance of prints, when I asked RedBubble, their customer service says this about their metal prints and framed prints: "Metal Prints have high UV resistance similar to many other professional display products. Even though any prints in direct sunlight will fade over time, the production partners say they have metal prints as outside signage in direct sunlight that have only faded slightly in 3 years. The Perspex has the same resistance as framing glass and is actually optically clearer." I do not have similar information for Zazzle or Artflakes, so for the moment RedBubble will be my default print provider. Please remember that unless explicitly stated otherwise, all my art arrives as a 600DPI digital final, with your choice of JPEG, PSD, or TIFF. Feel free to ask about other other options, and if you think you might want the original physical art, I need to know before I start - and the answer for, "Will you provide the physical original?" Is usually no. You can find my basic portfolio on Behance below, and I can provide additional links to existing work on request, but - as this has come up - I do not create new work without an accepted proposal in place, or a contract by other means. This ensures I avoid working without trade. The exception to this is if I'm approaching you - usually as the result of a request - and that usually entails, "Here's the information I have on the thing you requested. If it solves your problem or is what you were looking for, let me know what you think it was worth and I'll write a proposal for that amount." That way I can permit people to opt in on what I think is useful, but only if they feel like it. If you think I should offer another service: Ask. I might take you up on it. Limits are: Must be legal both where you are and where I am, and must not breach consent.show more
