10 months ago, I was found to be a match for someone with leukemia and then went in to give bone marrow. I will tell you as much information as you want regarding the process leading up to and following bone marrow harvest (procedure, emotions, etc). I have heard from others that making the decision to follow through is often a tough one, so my experiences could be useful to you if you are considering joining the bone marrow registry, or have been found to be a match for someone with blood-related cancer. It could also be useful if you are on the other side of the equation and want to know what the donor experiences.

I am a recent bone marrow donor (donation date: end of September 2016) for a 40 year old male with acute lymphocytic leukemia who signed up with Gift of Life bone marrow registry in 2010.
