Family Cookbook of over 100 recipes

50

50 per package - Virtual OK - Posted Mar 12, 2017

For this price, I'll provide you with a PDF copy of our family cookbook. This includes over 100 different recipes dating back as far as the early 1900s ... less than half a Simbi per recipe! From sweets and treats to salad dressings, pickles and jams to marinades, even soups and salads, this cook book has it all! You'll find our favourite family recipes for all occasions.

It's not fancy French cuisine, just old-fashioned, tried-and-true recipes handed down through generations. So many of these recipes have been found scribbled in pencil on scraps of paper and old, yellowed envelopes. I love the idea of saving these bits of history!

Simbi doesn't really support the PDF format as far as I can tell, so please include your email address. This will let me deliver all 130 pages to your email address.

Want a taste of what's in there? Try this free recipe from my Baba (that's a Ukrainian grandmother) 😊. It makes a super moist cake, and the flavour only gets better if it sits overnight.

Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
• 1 c sugar
• 3 Tbsp butter
• 1 egg
• ½ c cocoa, plus boiling water to equal 1 c of liquid
• ½ c boiling water
• ½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 c flour

Directions
Preheat oven to 350°.

Cream together butter and sugar. Add the beaten egg and the cocoa liquid, mix well.

Mix together baking soda with ½ cup boiling water. Add baking powder and flour, mix well. Add to the other ingredients and mix well.

Pour into a greased 9" by 9" pan. Bake for 30 minutes, until a knife inserted in centre comes out clean.

Cool on rack.

Training & Qualifications

I've loved cooking all my life. I come from a long line of home cooks, and have been carefully collecting recipes from my grandmother and great grandmother's era. It's an honour to me to preserve these recipes for future generations!

About Nickka Hutton

I'm a gal with a wide range of interests and a varied background. I've worked in the aviation field and been a groom for racehorses. For over a decade I've been a technical writer and editor for hire,... with an emphasis on web copy and SEO, technical manuals, and blog posts that will capture the attention of your readers. I've made and sold sterling silver jewelry created with silver wire. I learned to crochet at an early age, and spent many hours creating crocheted lace. I love to knit as well, though my knitting skills are limited to creating slippers. Lots and lots of slippers! Over the years, I've had numerous cats, dogs, ferrets, fish, horses, and even a goat. I love animals! My favourite breed of dog is "rescue". I believe in adopting pets from shelters, especially adult animals. Currently we have two rescue dogs who are the king and queen of the couch lol! I'm also a gardener with a fondness for old-style roses and my herb garden, which provides most of my cooking needs. I love to cook, and the kitchen is my fave place. My biggest closet thrill is when I get to pick wild berries and turn them into jams and jellies! We have lots of wild blackberries and huckleberries in the area, and it's been literally years since I bought any jam. I'm a closet pagan with a deep appreciation for nature. I'd rather be in the woods than anywhere else; the forest feels like my cathedral, and it provides me with deep feelings of calm and an almost religious bliss. My favourite place is my kitchen, where I spend hours happily puttering away. I love to create good food, especially from vintage recipes handed down through several generations. I also use that space to make handcrafted natural soaps ... it's a fascinating combination of art and science that always amazes me! My daughter was raised with my love of natural beauty (since our sensitive skin couldn't handle most store-bought products with their scary, unpronounceable chemicals), so now we work together to create and sell lip balms, moisturizers, massage oils, toners, masks, and more. Everything is made with love and all-natural ingredients that are better for our skin and the environment. Our products are available at www.etsy.com/ca/shop/OohNaturelleshow more
