Write a haiku/senryu about anything
Give me a topic and I'll attempt to write a haiku/senryu.
I have been practicing writing poetry in this format since the beginning of 2020, and I enjoy the challenge.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗸𝘂𝘀:
Haiku is an originally Japanese poetry form. In English, a haiku poem consists of 17 syllables written in 3 lines. The first line contains 5 syllables, the second line contains 7 syllables, and the final line contains 5 syllables. The topic of haikus revolve around nature and usually include a specific word about the nature topic. Senryus are more flexible, following the same format as haikus, but being about various subjects and not requiring a specific word.
In my opinion, these are difficult forms of poetry, which is why I'd like more practice doing it—trying to branch out from my comfort zone of blog posts and memoirs.
Training & Qualifications
I'm a freelance writer, and while I wrote plenty of poetry in high school, I've taken a long hiatus from poetry writing. Haiku is a new format to me, and I look forward to practicing it.
