Appraise Antique Sewing Machine
10
Did you stumble across a gem in Grandma's attic? Inherited a sewing machine you're sure is worth a ton of money, since it is so old and cool-looking? Let me break down for you what you've got and what you can get for it. Fair warning: most sewing machines are not worth their weight in gold, but some are. And the ones that aren't? Well, I can still help you get the price of a case of beer out of it, or make sure it goes to a worthy cause (i.e. not the scrapyard!).
I will assess based on four major criteria: make/model, cosmetic condition, working condition (including presence or absence of any and all parts), and rarity/desirability. I cannot guarantee that you will be able to sell your sewing machine for the estimate I give you. It is a realistic guideline only. I do not control the economy or the market.
Training & Qualifications
I've been deeply entrenched in the vintage/antique sewing machine community for a number of years. I've owned many different models and know which ones are highly prized, and which ones are common as hen's teeth. I've also repaired many busted machines and sold others for parts, so I know what they are worth even when they aren't functional anymore.
**PLEASE NOTE: I have run into some very belligerent people in my time spent collecting sewing machines. I am tactful and honest: I will not blow smoke up your ass during this process. If you cannot afford me basic courtesy when I perform this service for you, or if your ego is too frail to hear the truth about your rusty old Singer doorstop, please spare me the mental energy of dealing with you.**
