Chronic illness coach
50
I will talk with you for 1 hour through Skype or Hangouts (voice only) about your illness and help you figure out the best ways to manage it.
Our primary care providers are supposed to be the ones to view the entire you, take all the information received from your specialists, and guide you on how to bring your health to a level to optimize your productivity and ability to enjoy life. Unfortunately, our insurance-driven healthcare system has put so much pressure on primary health care that they no longer have the time to help their patients discover and navigate their unique situation.
This is where health care coaching comes in. My job will be to learn about your individual case and to help you discover and implement ways to maximize your life. I'll also help you to prepare a plan for your doctor appointments to ensure that you get the most from the precious small amount of time that you have with them. If you want to continue working with me, I'll keep track of your progress, process the varied information you've gotten from your specialists, and then help you to get the most out of your doctors.
Managing your health is also a job for you. You may have to track your health variability, make lifestyle changes -- sometimes drastic! -- and read books and research papers. I will help guide you towards a door, but you will have to walk through it.
Training & Qualifications
I have unfortunately been managing a life-altering chronic illness for the past 4 and a half years... and counting. I have found I need to be proactive in analyzing my own health and pushing my doctors when needed. I have done a relatively wonderful job. I went from spending most of every single day rolling in agony to now having opportunities to engage in joyful activities on a regular basis (I still can't get a job, though). Getting here was a lot of hard work, and a lot of trial and error. Lets see if my experiences can help you, too.
I have a lot of experience doing consulting work and training for clients on a wide variety of subjects. Therefore, I will come prepared to structure our appointments to maximize their productiveness, and set realistic expectations.
Note that I have extremely little experience doing consulting over the phone, as well as consulting in my current state of health. My simbi pricing is reflecting this inexperience. I hope that we can work together where I can help you as best I can while you are also helping me figure out how I can be a productive member of society given the drastic health changes I have experienced.
Availability & Preferences
I'm not available on Wednesdays or Thursdays. I prefer afternoons (which is evening for you East Coast folks), but am quite flexible.
Unfortunately, I have a debilitating chronic illness that can make me unreliable. I might not be able to answer a message from you right away, and there is a possibility I may have to cancel our appointment at the last minute and reschedule with you. It could be frustrating -- I could be energetically working with you for weeks and then BAM! I'm sick for a week or two. But, I give you my promise, YOU will be my priority and I will do my damned best to fulfill your requests. It just might be a little... slow.
