Beginner Sewing Advice/lessons

10

10 per session - Virtual OK - Posted Nov 26, 2016

I am offering the service of virtual beginner sewing lessons and/or advice. I have included various photos of projects I have completed in the past. I can help you figure out a threading issue, help you use an antique treadle machine, and even teach you how to draft your own sewing pattern. I have worked with knits, leather, quilters cotton, canvas, various pique and chiffon, etc.

As for Simbi...

10 simbi gets you the simple package.
SIMPLE PACKAGE:
The simple package includes answering 1 of your sewing questions. Do you need help figuring out your new sewing machine? How about that knotting problem on your singer? Not sure how much fabric you need? Questions similar to these will be in this package.

25 Simbi gets you the Basic Package
BASIC PACKAGE
The basic package gets you sewing help that not only includes all of the Simple Package, but also adds to it with 3 addition questions. Do you need to figure out your sewing machine and also a confusing pattern? Not sure how to alter this pattern to your size? Questions like this will be best served in the basic package.

30 Simbi gets you the Advanced package
ADVANCED PACKAGE
The advanced package will help you draft 1 (one) pattern. A sleeve counts as 1 pattern. A bodice Sloper counts as 1 pattern.

If you need help drafting multiple patterns (or just need extra help), we can work out a package that better suits you.

If you prefer to trade, I am always looking for antique sewing patterns from the 1890s, home building materials, and fabrics/sewing supplies (and many other things. Just hit me up!)

Training & Qualifications

I have been sewing since I was 4. I may be young, but I have a lot of experience under my belt. I love sewing historical garments from the 19th century, but I also sew clothing for my son and I (modern), and many other sewing projects.

Availability & Preferences

I am available most days.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

About Julie Ott

Hello! I'm Julie Ott. I may be young looking, but don't let that fool you (no, I REALLY do not know your niece who just graduated High School...really...) I am currently taking a rather long hiatus fr...om Culinary School to raise my (now) 1 year old son. Between toddler tantrums and daily chores, I tend the garden, care for the livestock, and make goat milk soap and cheese on the farm. I love to create jam and jelly recipes, and I also grew up canning all kinds of foods (my mother taught me.) My father taught me to care for livestock, and how to garden. We have a large herb garden behind the kitchen gardens, and actually dry a large amount of our own herbs. We just planted ginger this year; we will see! I also love to read historical romances, write novellas (historical romance ones, of course,) cook, bake, decorate cakes, sew clothing (including drafting historically accurate patterns, and then using them to create clothes), quilting, and I collect treadle sewing machines. That's just a bit of what I do and know, though! My fiance and I are currently in the planning stage of our homestead, and I designed the house myself. We will be cutting our own lumber starting next year, and from there the actual building will begin. That's about it! You can always ask if you want to know more, as I am sure that somewhere in this long paragraph I have missed something. Feel free to reach out!show more
