One-On-One Poetry Workshop

I will help you with the craft of writing poetry. In a one hour telephone or facetime session, you can share poetry you have written, and I will give you guidance at whatever level you would like. If you are a beginner and want encouragement and ideas for exploring writing poetry, for growing your craft, we can talk about that. I can tell you what I like about your poem, and what I would like to hear more about (encouraging you to write more in that direction). If you are advanced, I can give you a close critique of poetry you have written. If you want a close reading and critique, I will need the text of the poem or poems sent in our conversation ahead of time, so I can print a copy to work on. If you would like a poetry writing exercise or prompt, I am happy to oblige. The hour is yours for working and playing with poetry. Few things are as much fun as working on writing craft!
Training & Qualifications
I have been writing poetry for 40plus years, and participating in an incredible weekly writing critique group where we practice the craft of giving feedback to help each other make our writing as wonderful, strong, and true to each writer's vision as possible.I have a masters in English with an emphasis in creative writing, and I've taught college writing. My poems have been published in literary journals and my chapbook WOLFDREAM won the Anabiosis Press chapbook contest and gained me a Pushcart Poet nomination. I recently completed a 285 page memoir written in free verse, and am now querying agents. I'm returning to work on a book of poetry titled THE PHILOSOPHER AND HIS DOG. I love doing the writing craft and talking about creative process.
