Ask about DID
35
I have DID, dissociative identity disorder, which used to be called multiple personality disorder. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be someone with multiple "personalities", or to know someone who switches between selves— girls, boys, adults,— with different sets of memories and perspectives? I/we feel comfortable talking about our experiences. We are committed to being open about how we are, to help dispel myths and misunderstandings which are out there in the media. We asked some friends what it is like having us as a friend, and they said it is like having lots of friends! If you are a kind person, one of our Littles would probably be happy to talk with you. I can answer your questions or we can just chat. (One unit is for a half-hour telephone conversation .)
Training & Qualifications
I have Dissociative Identity Disorder, and I've spoken to groups and educated friends and professionals about DID. I've been on a healing journey with an excellent trauma therapist for 12 years now. I've read a fair amount of the professional literature about DID and have knowledge and experience with complex PTSD and EMDR. I was an administrator on an online DID support group for many years. I'm also writing a memoir giving an inside view of what it is like living with DID. I believe that it is important to talk openly about DID in order to increase understanding.
