Pain Management Consult

50

50 per hour - Virtual OK - Posted Aug 08, 2016

Pain can take over your life. Pain can feel like a steel-jawed trap with no way to get free. Pain can make life miserable and sleep impossible. If you tell me about your pain, or the pain of someone you care about, I will "get it." Through necessity I've learned a lot about dealing with pain. I wish I had known thirty years ago what I know now. Twenty-five years ago doctors told me that I would be bed-ridden and house-bound for the rest of my life with pain. I began a journey of finding ways to deal with the giant problem of pain. On the journey, I've been taught by some of the best pain management doctors, and holistic practitioners. I am not a doctor, and my advice should not replace medical care. Still, I might be able to help. I know what it feels like to be desperate for help. Let me share with you what I've learned.

Availability & Preferences

I can talk with you on the phone, or we can "chat" here, writing back and forth in our simbi conversation. Until I get a new computer, my old computer isn't able to skype. I do have an iphone, so facetime is a possibility.

Trading Preference: I prefer being paid in simbi

About Carole Stedronsky

I am an artist and writer. I am 63 years old, although I have lots of playful inner children. My friends say I have taught them how to play.... I've taught improvisational creative process to childre...n and adults, informally, and in classes, with drawing, painting, quilting, and writing. I have a masters in English with an emphasis in creative writing, and I've been in a writing critique group that has been meeting weekly for 25 years. We meet at noon, have lunch together and chat for a half hour, then read, edit and and critique each others' current work. I have published poetry in literary magazines, my chapbook Wolfdream won the Anibiosis Press chapbook contest and I've been nominated as a Pushcart Poet. I'm at a place in my life where I'm working on book projects.... I'm finishing a memoir and book proposal this month (ten years work), and then I will be working on finishing the illustrations for my picture book titled You Are The Artist, to be published by Reflection Press. I play the bodhran (Irish frame drum). After a bad fall from a horse, I have nerve damage and chronic pain and have a purple electric wheelchair (zoom) and a wonderful Golden Retriever service dog named Hazel. I've figured out how to do my creative work (writing, drawing, painting watercolors, creative consulting) from my recliner where I spend most of my time at home (for pain management). Through necessity, I've become quite knowledgeable about pain management through a multi-faceted approach, and that will be another book project. This year I got an outdoor recliner, which is wonderful, because I can sit outdoors and write or read or draw and occasionally throw tennis balls for Hazel. I'm sitting in my outdoor recliner as I write this, under the wisteria, dog, cat, and Japanese maple trees beside me, enjoying the cool summer morning. I'm married to a retired firefighter captain. Our 29-year-old son (who teaches high school physics) and his wife (who is an archeologist) and two Italian greyhounds live three blocks away, and we go on dog walks together in the afternoon or evening. show more
