Ask a 911 Dispatcher
Want to know what 911 needs to know when you pick up the phone? Curious about how we can send help to someone (like a child) who doesn't know their address? Ready to learn what to do in certain emergency situations? I'd love to answer!
I've been working as a 911 Dispatcher for Fire and EMS for a full year now. It's easily one of the most interesting and rewarding jobs I've ever had, and I love being a part of emergency services! I learned a lot here that I really wish I'd known as someone with no prior medical background. Since I'd want that shared with past me, I figure it's something worth paying forward. Here's a general call for anyone who'd like to satisfy some curiosity, learn basic emergency procedures, hear absurd stories, and/or anything else a dispatcher can provide.
Shoot me a message; let's talk!
Training & Qualifications
I took a job as a 911 Fire & EMS Dispatcher in the same county as my dad, who's been working as a Paramedic Firefighter for over 20 years now. I've been coming up on my sixth month of working here, and I'm ready to give back what I wish someone had given me.
Availability & Preferences
My schedule alternates constantly. However, I can write answers in my spare time so this shouldn't pose too big of a problem!
