Hello! I'm Adrian, and the other cute face in my picture is my service dog in training Riley! She’s a German Rottweiler, 1.5 years when I write this (born May 5, 2017), and just the sweetest love you’ll ever meet. I also have my first service dog living out his retirement with me. Winky is a 10 year old, 10 pound, devoted chiweenie (chihuahua dachshund mix).
As you might guess from the service dogs, I live with a few disabilities. I don't always have the spoons for it, but I am passionate about disability advocacy, particularly people with invisible disabilities and children with disabilities. I'm also passionate about advocacy for people of color, economically disadvantaged people, trans and queer people, and service dogs and their handlers and trainers. I'm white, but I am trans, queer, disabled, a service dog handler, and not in great financial shape.
I love to write! I do fiction and poetry as well as largely ignoring two nonfiction blogs I have, one for advocacy and one for food and recipes. I curate two instagram accounts: one is servicesibs for my dogs and the other fodmap.foodventure for me, my diet and mental health. My days are shaped by my dogs, writing, and cooking and eating. In between all of that, I love watching tv and playing Ticket to Ride and other board and card games. (Cards Against Humanity, Dominion, Magic: The Gathering, Seven Wonders, and many others!)
Want to know more? Just ask! I'm pretty open & not shy about politely telling you if I'd rather not answer.
