I will give you a list of 10 board games, ranging in price and difficulty. All are relatively easy to learn, most can be played in about an hour.
You won't find Monopoly or games like it on this list.
The games included in the list are games that encourage people to get increasingly more into board games. They are great for both beginner players and board game enthusiasts.
Game mechanics vary wildly so everyone playing should get a new experience from them.

Training & Qualifications
In college, I studied game design and started playing games for study. This quickly expanded my game library and I started tailoring my purchases to games that I could get people who declared themselves as "not into board games". Now I have a list of board games that will help anyone ramp up their board game library.
