Art/Craft soundboard/mentor
I love "talking shop" with other artists and crafters, bouncing ideas back and forth. Sometimes an art block calls for just talking to someone in a similar field of study. I know I need that sometimes when I find myself in that all-to-familiar zone known as art block.
If you're looking for someone to go over ideas with, get a fresh set of eyes to look on a project or plan you've set up, or are dealing with art block, I'm all about that.
I'm a watercolor artist, jewelry maker and designer, quilter, poet, and writer. I also draw, ranging from portraits (from photo reference or screenshots) to scenery and even urban landscapes. When I can I also color line art, and do this with color pencils. Decoupage is another fun craft I love and enjoy and up-cycling things to give them new life.
Learning new crafts, techniques, and styles are welcome challenge and break.
Training & Qualifications
I've been making modern macrame jewelry for 25 years. I work with cotton cord, hemp yarn, waxed hemp, linen, satin ribbon, and even strips of fabric for the knotting. My other materials are various gems, semi-precious stones, crystals, pendants of all sorts, bones and teeth, glass beads, acrylic beads, and a multitude of others. I design my own patterns, play with color, and even hand-sew lace or other materials to necklaces and chokers.
I've been painting with watercolors for nearly 15 years. I create abstract versions of reality, making what is real look like something out of a dream. My favorite things to paint are flowers, out space, architecture, and landscapes.
I'm a fourth generation quilter and grew up around quilting. In 2015 I decided to take on quilting things myself and have been hooked ever since. I'm nowhere near my mother's skill level (she's a master quilter and has been quilting for over 30 years) but hope to reach it someday. My skill level is that of confident beginner to intermediate.
Decoupage is something I've been doing for over 20 years, bring life to bland journals, up-cycling cigar boxes, and decorating nearly any flat surface I feel needs life. If it can handle layers of glue of course.
