Farm Tour
Would you like to hang out with me and my goats, ducks, and chickens? Would you like to feed them, pet them (virtually or in person)? Do you want to know their names and watch them act all goofy? I will give you a tour of our small farm. I will take you into the chicken coop where the hens lay their eggs (and hatch them too). We will climb and horse around with the goats. We can even feed and watch the ducks splash in their pools.
The farm is small. It is a work in progress, but I am happy to share it with you. They have brought me a lot of peace this past year, much needed grounding since losing my job, my brother, and the use of my arms. Hear about our trials and losses to coyotes, dogs, hawks, and possums. Find out what is next in store for the farm and how you can help out if you so desire. They can do the same for you! This can be combined with Talk to a Survivor, if you are so inclined and if you have access to FaceTime or Skype.
Training & Qualifications
I live on a small farm with my girlfriend. We have two goats - a boer goat (a rescue, pet only) and a nigerian dwarf goat (for milking when she is a little older). We have 20 ducks (Pekin, Khaki, Mallard, Swedish, and Muskovy) and 18 chickens (Rhode Island Reds, Ameraucana , Wyandottes, Orpington, Plymouth Rock, Welsummer, and Mixes) 3 of which are Roosters. Everyone gets along and they all share the coop and fenced in pens. The chickens and ducks free range across our 2 acres during the day and are locked in safely at night. Learn about how to catch and handle farm animals to minimize stress and care for their needs.
