I will gladly give you a movie/tv series recommendation. I think I have exquisite tastes when it comes to movies, but hey, I'm biased lol

For an idea of what I like
Star Wars films, sad to see Empire toppled as best film, but Force Awakens is awesome. Prequels are good I guess. I can stomach them one or twice a decade lol. Wasn't sure about Rogue One, but am really psyched now!
The Godfather films, first is amazing. Second is really good. Third is comparable to Star Wars sequels lol
Chick Flicks, I'm a fan what can I say.
Classic films, classic for a reason. The Maltese Falcon can hold its own against almost anything.
Comedies, Harlem Nights is probably the funniest movie ever filmed. Just a fact lol
Horrors, not a big horror fan. If this is your genre; unless you want a classic you should ask someone else lol
