I was an English major specializing in creative writing, and I am willing to review your short written piece and give you feedback on it to help you with smoother flow, major spelling errors, and major grammar errors. In short, I'll point out any glaring flaws so that you can fix them. I consider a "short" piece to be a less-than-10-page research paper, a five page essay, three one-page poems, or a single chapter from a novel. We will discuss what length piece you would like me to review for you before you send it, and agree on length at that time.

Here's how it'll work: you'll send me your short piece via email. I'll read through it and make notes in it, then send the file back to you (within 48 hours of reading it) with those notes included in another color or as 'comments,' so that you can tell them apart from your work. Then you'll go through your piece and make any of the edits that I've suggested (or none!) as you see fit.

I will not rewrite your story or essay FOR you, but I will make notes within your piece with suggestions about changes that you can make to improve the work. What I CANNOT do is fact check your non-fiction pieces or do your research for you; all I can do is provide feedback on how your story reads, not what it actually says.

Disclaimer: while I was an English major and have written many, many pieces of prose, poetry, and non-fiction essays over the years, that doesn't necessarily mean that my style of writing jibes with what your professor considers to be "ideal." Any changes I suggest may not be what he or she is looking for, in terms of content, flow, or overall tone.
