About Maylen Rafuls

Originally from Cuba, I am a language lover and world traveler. I am proficient in Spanish, English, French and dabble occasionally in Italian and Arabic. My experiences living and working abroad (...Spain, France, and Mauritania, West Africa) as well as having had the opportunity to interact with successful professionals in different sectors (businesspeople, NGO workers, UN professionals, educators, leaders, etc.) have given me a unique lens and understanding that can help you with your job search or editing needs. I am a high school teacher leader, with a Master's in Education from Stanford and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Princeton. Currently I teach French in South San Diego, just a couple of miles from the border. I am also certified to teach Spanish and math. In addition, I have completed teacher leadership course to learn more about how to coach teachers and lead teams. I love my job as a teacher, as I feel that I make a difference every single day. I also have a lot of fun teaching my students every day! They are respectful and inquisitive, and I love to inspire a love of languages in them. My students are often the highlight of my day. On my free time, I love to read and spend time in my pool/jacuzzi. Always looking for the next bestseller to read, especially nonfiction, and, recently, books in French. I love to cook as well and occasionally, I do some art to pass the time or relax (watercolors, drawing, painting). show more
