No, I am not confused. Much like people who are bisexual, pansexual people have relationships with both/multiple/all genders. The differences are more lingual, in my opinion, but valid nonetheless.
Polyamory, which I also practice, is a whole other ball of wax. There are plenty of pan people out there who are monogamous. I can discuss that if you would rather. Or both.
I am an open and honest person. Helping people understand who I am may help them understand themselves better, so long as everyone goes in with an open mind and tge idea that no one is going to "convert" anyone.
