Help Understanding Your DSLR
10
Just bought your first DSLR and have no idea what all the terminology means? Been using the automatic settings for a while but want to branch out into "pro mode"? Want to buy a lens but can't figure out how to meet your needs because none of it makes sense to you? Are your photos turning out crappy because you just can't get the settings right? I can answer your questions in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.
Training & Qualifications
I bought my first Canon DSLR (the Rebel XS) in 2008 and was dismayed to find that there was very little accessible information out there to teach me how to use it. The manual didn't make sense to me, and other photography aficionados online seemed to either be just as clueless as me, or too pretentious to help. Photography magazines seemed to be little more than glossy catalogues for buying more expensive gear, with the occasional Photoshop tutorial thrown in. With time, I managed to teach myself how to use all the manual settings, and never looked back. I graduated to a 7D this year, and feel pretty confident in the basics, and can explain them in terms that make sense to even the most technophobic, camera-dumb newbie.
Each make of camera has their own approach, and while my experience has been solely with Canon, I could also help with your Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Pentax or other DSLR. I may not understand the specific layout of a different brand, but the basic knowledge is likely the same.
