I will introduce you to the basics of self-defense in a way that does not require you to be aggressive or highly develop special skills. What I teach is not dependent on strength or speed or years of practice. What I give you can be used right away, as it is merely unlocking your natural instincts and body movements. I customize techniques according to your body type and personality, not a cookie-cutter approach or trying to turn you into a copy of the teacher.
A typical introductory session deals with unlocking your natural ability to balance and connect to your environment, discusses the psychology of self-defense so that you will rarely ever need it, and go through a series of simple techniques that will work for you against nearly anyone in the most common situations.
On rare occasion I take on long-term students, and if this is for you, we can discuss it at that time.
Training & Qualifications
I have been teaching Kung Fu and Tai Chi for over 25 years, under various credentials. I work with people of all sorts, from girl scouts to seniors to people with physical challenges. I have been working with veterans once or twice a week at the VA Recovery Center for the last 16 years.
Availability & Preferences
I am generally available afternoons and some evenings and weekends.
