If you've written something for other people to read, then you need a second set of eyes on it to make sure it says what you want it to say. I can be the eyes to help you! My services include:
*Making sure you've used punctuation correctly and consistently.
*Fixing any embarrassing, hard-to-catch typos or spelling errors.
*Tightening up language to make things as clear and specific as possible.
*Small organizational changes as needed to maintain focus and flow.
*Ensuring consistency throughout regarding terms, abbreviations, spellings, numerals and numbers, etc.
*Catching inadvertently hurtful or discriminatory language.
My services do NOT include:
*Rewriting your work.
*Fact checking.
*Ensuring you have correctly cited and attributed sources.
*Integrating SEO.
*Making you sound "like me."
In other words, I provide the final polish before you put your work out in the world. The Simbi deal is for 1000 words; I may adjust the price upwards or downwards depending on the size and scope of the project.
Training & Qualifications
I have a BA in English from Hamilton College, and worked as a freelance copyeditor from 2013 to 2018. I'm also a member of the Society for Proofreaders and Editors and have taken a number of continuing education courses on the finer points of copyediting. My paid work includes contract work for the Turkish Science Council, memoirs, dissertations (in the humanities and social sciences), and general nonfiction. I specialize in working with non-native English speakers.
