Help You Choose Musical Instrument
10
Hi Simbi Folk!
Thinking of picking up a new musical hobby? Not sure if a certain instrument is right for you? Or perhaps you have several instruments you'd be interested in learning, but not sure which to start with first.
I can help you help narrow down the choices or learn more about specific features to look out for in a new instrument. I have experience with piano, harp, ukulele, kalimba, and accordion.
Finding the right instrument comes down to asking the right questions and deciding your musical goals. There are SO MANY instruments and I'm sure I can suggest a few to look into.
Here are some basic questions to figure out what instrument you might like to play
♪ Do you like high or low notes more?
♪ What do you expect your instrument budget to be? ($100, $500, $1000, $1500, or $5000?)
♪ Do you intend to take lessons or teach yourself?
♪ Do you want to play and sing?
♪ Would you like to play with others? (Duets or ensembles.)
♪ Do you want a unique instrument or something very common? (Also makes finding sheet music arrangements easier.)
♪ Would you like to learn to read sheet music ( 🎼 ) or play an instrument that doesn't require traditional sheet music?
Send me a message! I'd love to make some suggestions (after you answer these questions and possibly a few more.)
Training & Qualifications
I am a music teacher. I play several instruments. Some instruments are approachable to self-teach and some are best with a teacher's guidance.
P.S. If you do want lessons, I can point you in the direction of where to look for online teachers. Many, many teachers are currently teaching online at this time! I personally took online harp lessons before 2020.
Availability & Preferences
I have a random schedule, but I tend to answer within a few hours on weekdays.
