I paint on canvas, wood, paper, any surface that allows. I am a expressionist, atmospheric, intuitive style painter. I work with a variety of different color palettes and open to suggestions. Your preference can help influence the art tremendously.
I am greatly inspired by the world around us and am constantly observing our environment for potential ideas. For example the way that the wind moves trees or the way that the moon affects the ocean tide. I am interested in everyday occurrences such as on a hot summer day where you can literally see the heat waves moving on the ground. My art serves as a window into imagined realms influenced by our very own planet earth. Words can only hint at what I am trying to describe. Therefore I paint it to help satisfy my itch.
Painting is my medium of choice because others cannot come close to accomplishing the vision I have in mind. A camera cannot capture what you see when you close your eyes and look at the sun, or when you open your eyes under water. I use a lot of texture in my paintings as a way to add an additional layer to the experience. Touching is another way to see without looking. My aim is to create art that hints at the unexplainable and the wonderful that is always happening all around us.
Training & Qualifications
I have been drawing since I could hold something in my hand to make marks, I have recently graduated from Linfield College with a B.A. in studio art with a focus in painting.
