Asphalt hugger

I'm a retired H.S. teacher and since retiring, I've widened my opportunity to enjoy the summer (my favourite season) by learning the fine skills of biking - as in motorcycle. I've travelled parts of Canada & the U.S. My most memorable trip has been my trip to The Tail of the Dragon near Robbinsville / Deals' Gap in North Carolina/Tennessee! Drove there and back and did the tail on Highway 129 4 times ... was blown away by the photos that had been taken my the photographers ...
I'd like to share about roads, trips on and about the bike. I don't belong to a group ... I find being part of a group goes against my need to enjoy total freedom from starting, biking and stopping when I feel the need ... which is often. I've been with a group and that was awesome ... the camaraderie is great and many conceptions of bikers in general quickly faded! The average biker is the first to stop and offer help. The conversations are kool.
I don't have a service per se! I only offer information about biking in and around Ontario, Canada - which is where I live. I would just like to exchange experiences and info re biking ... tricks, road trips, scenic roads to travel, etc.
I'm not a mechanic but I love to take care of the bike and keep my toy in great running condition!

Training & Qualifications

I've been biking since 2007. Within the 1st year, I got my M1 (written test) and M2 (short riding abilities, took a course, and underwent my 1st trip into Quebec to visit family. In spite of being told I was nuts to do so - a 1K kilometre trip to Quebec - only 2 months after getting on a bike for the 1st time ... I proved to myself I could and I DID!
Since, I've met a few new buddies and enjoyed the Tail of the Dragon with a best buddy!
Biking is an experience and it is a lifestyle for 7-8 months of the year for me. Winters are cruel! lol

BTW ... I've only driven metrics - Yamaha & Honda. I've tried others but not for this asphalt hugger! Currently have a 2013 Yamaha 1300 V-Star. My toy!

About Dan Robitaille

I'm a retired H.S. teacher ... taught Math & various Bus. classes of which Accounting was my favourite. (notice CDN spelling? lol) I do live in Northern Ontario in Sudbury - the nickel capital of t...he world. I've taken up biking (as in motorcycle) and many other interests just since retiring in 2003. Don't let my time on this earth fool you ... i'm lucky to be alive as I went through the 'cancer thing' 7 yrs ago and enjoy life more than at any other time. As I say, age is a number and i'm as young as my heart leads me. I learnt and taught how to use the computer and find what I need to know and then put it in written form for my own needs. Keyboarding was my first subject to teach, being able to type was my foot in the teaching door and the rest is history. I have taught younger kids, mostly teenagers and adults (some that were older than myself) I worked on a aboriginal reserve and in a minimum security prison. I love dancing with my partner or with anyone who wants to boogie - lol; I especially love music. Music is what I often use to get me going when I'm down or too mellow for the moment. I'm a fan of 50's & 60's but I still listen to top 40 on the radio. I enjoy looking at how to better myself and be a little less sensitive to people, places and things that trigger my buttons - so to speak. By being less sensitive to outside factors, I believe I'm better for it. The place to start for overall happiness is taking a good look at myself and stop blaming everyone else for my state of being. I have to take care of myself and let others take care of themselves. Since 'boundaries' is one of my services, I want to share some basic experience that I've picked up. Boundaries are about 'me', although it certainly affects all the 'you' out there. Enough about me ... now, I'd like to meet some folks out there.
