Hello, fellow Simbian. ❤️ Here's me: I'm a multifaceted creative, nurturer of stories, amateur naturalist, lover of delicious things, and eternal campaigner for clear communication. My life goals focus on cultivating harmony and healthy connections, and my nature is to inspire and guide unexpected ideas and actions. (That last thing is a way of saying I'm kinda weird and my non-mainstreamness inevitably seeps into everything I do.)
Work-ish-wise (meaning, I've done these things for some amount of money) I’ve been a magazine editor and a copy editor, a published poet and nonfiction writer, a test knitter, a stage fighter, a fiber artist, and a face painter, among other things. I also have training or schooling in web design, UX design, and music, but my bachelor’s degree is in anthropology, which (according to one of my professors) makes me an official world-embracing hippie.
My hobby time frequently involves wandering in local parks and nature preserves (often with camera in hand), noodling on my lyre, or diving deep into research on my latest topic of interest, which could be virtually anything — like ancient literature, local ethnobotany, quantum particles, or varieties of steelpan.
Things I love: nature, sustainability, martial arts movies, mindfulness, engaged Buddhism, science classes, tea, textiles, slow craft, instrumental music, and culture. I'm also a strong advocate for anything that supports good emotional and mental health.
Skills I can offer:
• Copy editing
• Knitting lessons or advice
• Sewing lessons or advice
• General problem-solving
• Talking about everything and nothing
• Style advice
• Tea recommendations
• Book recommendations (depending on your genre or topic of interest — feel free to message me about it!)
One thing I’m terrible at? Looking like myself in photos. (Still working on that profile picture thing.)
