30-Minute Virtual Crochet Lesson
10
Via a 30-minute Skype session, I will teach you some basic skills needed to begin crocheting (how to hold the hook, how to make a slipknot, how to chain, and how to single crochet). By the end of the session, you should be able to practice these skills on your own. With time and practice, you can use these skills to begin making simple projects like scarves and dishcloths.
You will need these things:
1. A size H or I crochet hook. The size should be on the packaging. I like hooks with comfort grips, but you can choose whatever you like.
2. A ball or skein of yarn. I recommend a medium-weight yarn with no special textures (Red Heart Super Saver is a good choice) and a solid color so you can easily see what you're doing. On the label, it should either say "Medium" or have a picture of a skein of yarn with a number 4 in the middle. A bright color is ideal so I can see what you're doing and give you feedback.
3. Skype with a good internet connection. If the video is grainy, it's hard for us to see each other's work.
Training & Qualifications
I have been crocheting since April 2017 and own a crochet shop on Etsy (CrochetAwayCo). I have also taught high school and middle school. I have taught myself through books and the internet and have made a handful of projects ranging from scarves to adult-sized blankets to hats to sweaters.
