Food / Food History Discussion
25
I'm an avid cook, with over thirty years of experience in a variety of cuisines. Culinary anthropology and food history are also strong interests of mine. Want to talk about northern vs southern Indian, or Hyderabad biryani? How about why you can't get a bialy in the town they're named for? Need an easy vegetarian crock pot recipe? I've got some tried and true ones I'd be happy to share. Looking for an actual Roman bread recipe? A proper Victorian Christmas pudding? I can help with those. I'm available by mobile, Skype, Hangouts, or Facebook Messenger. Let's talk about food.
Training & Qualifications
I've got over forty years of experience in the kitchen. At the age of 17, I was running the family kitchen, as both parents worked. I made up the menu, built the shopping list, clipped coupons, and did the cooking. I've worked in food service from fast food to fern bar steakhouses. I've spent time in Singapore, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kobnhavn, and London. As a writer, I've published roleplaying game books set in and around an alternate-history Victorian London, with perhaps a bit more consideration of food in all its aspects - farms, markets, supply lines, distribution, and consumption - than you usually get in such a game volume. But then I love the details - don't ever go up against me in Trivial Pursuit.
Availability & Preferences
My day job runs 8am to 5pn Eastern time Monday through Friday. Outside of that, I've got a regular commitment on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, and alternate Saturdays. Yes, I know that's a busy schedule. I'd still like to try to make the time for this.
