Help with crowdfunding an album
1
My passion is music. Folk, electronic, acoustic, rock and just about anything that sounds fun or means something. The most important thing to me is that "it doesn't have to be great, it just has to be honest and exist."
As a songwriter and producer, I have plenty of songs I want to release but even with working 2-3 part time jobs, I can't afford to pay my phone bill let alone put up the $1500-3000 it would take me to mix/master and manufacture an album. This is where my pride comes into play, I hate asking for financial help, but there are some people on here I've talked to about working with for the mixing and mastering at considerably more affordable prices than if I were to use a local recording studio. Manufacturing is really what gets expensive. 200 cd's and iTunes (Spotify/android/other digital services) would cost about $1500 with no real profit margin (making money isn't what matters to me, though, it's about sharing my art but actually having it be professional). $3000 would be for a vinyl/digital release and if done correctly, I would profit a bit off of that to fund my next project.
Anyways. This long request ends up being this. If you can spare anything, it would be amazing, but since we're on simbi, maybe you work at a cd/vinyl manufacturing plant? Maybe you're an artist who wants to provide cover art? Maybe you're a fellow musician who wants in on the fun?
Www.gofundme.com/tylersalbum is a page I set up awhile ago and I've raised an embarrassing $10 from an ex girlfriend. But let's talk!
It would be a mostly acoustic album comprised of songs written and recorded by me, accompanied by some other simbi members providing instruments I can't play such as strings, live drums, etc.
I'm also working on a separate, simbi based album that is strictly a simbi collaboration where I'll simbi-commission a few different writers/poets, voice actors, singers and musicians to create a really cool album of songs that we can all make money off of (provided it can be distributed of course!). Who knows. Maybe in 6 months we'll all end up going on a weird spoken word/music tour! This site makes anything possible. Thanks for reading this long, long, way too long of a post and I look forward to hearing from you.
