I have been a research and writing specialist for twenty years, working with various schools, universities, and other educational institutes to strengthen those skills in other people. I have worked on projects in several disciplines, including anthropology, sociology, biology, medicine, information technology, law, government, and others. I am bringing my skills of taking on vast quantities of information and synthesizing it into usable reference works.
I think those skills are probably the most valuable to help others learn about tough topics, but I'd like to offer some fun things that fuel my writing and creativity as well. For every serious medical or legal document created, there's a short story or poem lurking in the back of my mind.
Recently, I have been given a number of assignments on researching natural health and wellness, which fortunately for me, has always been an interest of mine. As I began to pour through reference books on health living, natural remedies, and various naturopathic practices, I realized that the information available is spread across numerous references and from many points of view. I recognized that those wanting to learn more about a particular topic would have to read through dozens of books and articles to gather up enough information to feel like they had a good view of the topic overall. In addition, online sources can be dubious at best, so a quick online search may not bring the best results.
When I learned about Simbi, it seemed like a great place to offer a few of my skills and benefit from the skills of others. I decided that putting my own interests and skills to work on Simbi would be a great way to pursue other interests through the offerings of other Simbi users and hope to eventually expand my offerings to even more areas of my expertise.
