This offering is primarily focused on roleplaying characters in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, but I like challenges and will entertain characters in other game systems, or for other sorts of situations.
Why do I think I can do this in an exceptional way for you? I've been playing D&D since 1978 and have a solid grasp of the early game and the current iteration. Plus, I'm familiar with the literature that the game grew out of (and many similar). Plus, I'm an English major who has continued to read widely as well as thoughtfully, so I know the literature that the literature that the game is based on is based on. :) Plus, I'm familiar with things like the work of C.G. Jung and Joseph Campbell as well as the more scholarly work of writers like Tolkien and others. Plus, if you put all the foregoing together with being traveled on three continents and respectfully exploring several cultures and the histories found in those places I have a vast body of myth, legend, history, experience, people, artifacts and more to draw on. If you want interesting and that sense of versimilitude that makes for good games and good stories, I'm your guy.
What I would need from you: the stats and important information about your character, what system you're playing with if not D&D 5E, the world you're playing in and resources on that world where possible (if it's FR I'm familiar, but something home brew I'll need help to understand what makes the place unique), whether you're looking for "optimal" or "interesting" (while everyone wants both, you know what I mean), and any thoughts, intuitions or inklings you already have about the character.
Be prepared: I tend to prefer interesting and will boldly suggest combinations and backgrounds that might be unusual but which would be of interest.
