Here's what I do: I can provide consultation services if you don't already know which components you want to use. Every person uses their computer differently, so every person's computer can use different hardware. I can recommend individual parts, and even individual item listings if you want to just have a shopping list.
I can also provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to assemble the parts and install the necessary software. Troubleshooting for assembly and installation can be done case-by-case for a small fee. I'd be more than willing to assemble it myself, but I'm afraid I can't do that for anyone outside the Birmingham area since FedEx doesn't accept Simbi.
I can also provide advice if you want to order a custom laptop from a manufacturer, but be advised that while manufacturers can get away with it, building a custom laptop from store-bought components is nearly impossible.

Training & Qualifications
I've been building custom rigs for friends, family, and myself for 10 years, and they all performed well until the end of their days. I can't say they're all still in good working order, because seriously, 10 years is a long time for any piece of technology these days.
