Why take a private class?
Originally, yoga practices were designed to be handed down from the great master to his student. Private lessons allow for this kind of dedication to your practice, with individualized attention on your areas of interest, tools for managing rehabilitation, stress, chronic conditions and building strength.
For new students: As a new student, you may be intimidated by the public classroom environment. Private yoga lessons help you safely learn the tools needed to start a yoga practice. Private classes allow teachers the opportunity to focus on you and make sure you are getting off to an appropriate start, as well as design a practice that meets your specific needs and fitness goals.
For more experienced students: Experienced students are able to have a deeper insight into specific postures or categories of postures, as well as any area of yogic study that interests them. I can help you with posture alignment, modifications as well as developing a balanced home practice.

Training & Qualifications
I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and instructing for over a decade. My first 5 years of study were with Iyengar yoga. Since then, I have studied the Anusara teachings with former senior Anusara teacher, Katchie Ananda. I am currently pursuing a Yoga Therapy certification with The Niroga Institute. Most of my life has lived in Morehouse, an intentional community focused on pleasurable group living through self-awareness. My study of Buddhist, Tantric and Morehouse philosophies influence my teachings, bringing greater understanding of the human experience into my lessons.
My classes are also influenced by my practice of Vipassana meditation. Insight meditation (vipassana in Pali, the language of the original Buddhist teachings) is the simple and direct practice of moment-to-moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained observation, we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.
