Osteopathic Manipulation
65
Osteopathic manipulative treatments involve a wide variety of techniques applied to the musculoskeletal system. These techniques can be applied to the joints, their surrounding soft tissues and fluids, muscles, nerves, and membranes (fascia). OMT is not limited to any specific individual, strain, or disease process. Anyone can benefit from osteopathic manipulative treatment.
At the heart of osteopathy is the recognition of the body's ability to cure itself, with some help. Sometimes when the body/spirit becomes overwhelmed by injury or disease it may require help to restore balance so that its ability to heal can function more efficiently.
Examples of a few of the things that I have had great success treating with OMT:
Chronic sinus congestion or frequent sinus infections
Frequent headaches
Insomnia
Chronic pain (back, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles)
Vertigo
TMJ dysfunction
Rib dysfunctions and diaphragm restrictions causing shortness of breath
Constipation
Acid reflux
Pregnant patients with back pain, acid reflux, insomnia, and fetal breech
