Fix your slow computer!

25

25 per hour - Virtual OK - Posted May 20, 2017

I will give you a phone call, FaceTime, or Skype call (whatever is easiest for you) and help you speed up your computer. If you're local, I'll fix it in person if you pay for my gas. Here's how I'll do it:

First, I'll check your computer's resources. I'll find out how much RAM is installed, your CPU, architecture, and type. If you're trying to play games, I'll check your GPU and other hardware specs to make sure your computer has the physical requirements needed to continue using your computer. If your computer does, I'll move on. If not, I'll let you know your computer is outdated and find another solution, for example, installing Ubuntu, a lighter operating system or helping you by increasing your RAM or replacing your hard drive with a solid state drive. If you don't know what any of that is, that's why I'm here :)

First, I'll check to see if there are any particular programs that are hogging your computer's resources and try to fix your computer by removing programs, defragmenting your hard drive, etc... If you don't know what defragmenting is, that's what I'm here for :)

If your computer is still slow and you have Windows 8 or 10, I'll show you how to refresh Windows and start over from scratch. Make sure you backup your files onto a hard drive or flash drive beforehand. This process may delete all of your files.

If you have Windows 7, reinstalling windows becomes a lot harder. If you're not tech savvy, this will be hard, and I'll we'll talk about it and see whether you want to continue or not.

If you have Windows XP or Vista, the operating systems are outdated and I'll be happy to give you advice and consultation, but you'll probably want to buy a new computer.

About Mike Chase

Hi! I'm Mike Chase, an engineering student at the University of Dayton. I graduated from Walsh Jesuit high school in 2017 in Cuyahoga Falls (around Cleveland, OH) where I've been a part of just about ...everything. At Walsh, I've been in a jazz band, started a robotics club where we competed in FTC tournaments, taught an introduction to computers class, ran/maintained graphics in the football stadium, and ran lighting for plays, musicals, and anything that happened to be going on in the theater. Outside of school, I take taekwondo classes to stay healthy. I used to help teach classes before I became busy. Before that, I used to be a gymnast until just before I entered high school. I play piano, drums, and ukulele, often playing in jam sessions or even on stage every once in a while. I compose my own music on my free time. Nothing good enough to publish, but I'm getting better and better each song I create with a MIDI keyboard, a microphone, and garage band on my Mac. When I'm not in school, I work as a chemist at a company called Chromascape, where we develop pigments for mainly mulch and concrete, but other products as well. We don't tend to sell our colors to people directly, but rather other businesses like mulch companies or cement companies. I've also completed a small internship at NASA where I shadowed a variety people in the engineering field. The experience was amazing, and it allowed me to see all the different parts of the engineering field and led me to choose a more specific major: electrical engineering.show more
