Talk on Community Building

I will present a talk to your group, community members, school, church, on the importance of Community Building as a way to succeed and thrive in this world. I explore the way connectors are important, and the way communities extend and support one another. Training & Qualifications

I am the Founder of Chilis on Wheels, a mobile vegan soup kitchen with chapters in several cities. We are currently on TheVTeamTour, building communities around free vegan food.

About Michelle Carrera

A vegan for 16 years, I am the Founder and Executive Director of Chilis on Wheels, which provides vegan food to people in need of a warm meal. We have free stores where we provide personal care necess...ities that are not tested on animals at no cost. We also have a Vegan Education Program where we educate the public on veganism, and a Youth Engagement Program where we encourage youth to participate in their communities. I also lead talks on veganism and hunger, food justice, low income vegan living, and community building. I am traveling around the country with TheVTeamTour, a project of van living, highlighting homelessness, building chapters of Chilis on Wheels, fostering community around free vegan food, and inspiring folks to live more connected committed lives. I organized a monthly Vegan Latinos of NYC Meetup to unite our fellow Vegan Latinos and raise money for vegan or animal protection organizations in Latin America. By profession I am a freelance translator and writer, and unschooling mother to my vegan son, Ollie. I have a blog: www.granolatron.com where I write about parenting, food, and activism. I am currently exploring what it takes to make a difference in the world, by interviewing and curating the voices of people that are transforming their lives to be of service to their community.
