30min (Leadership) Coaching Session

30

30 per session - - Posted Feb 27, 2017

Ever wanted to try a coaching session? Well, now you can through the magic of Simbi!

I approach coaching with a mixed Gestalt and Leadership Development philosophy, looking at helping my clients identify, set, strategize, and accomplish their goals by creating a space that's free of judgment, but still holds them accountable. I use my training to help you identify patterns in your blind spots and to explore what's unknown about you (see the image of the Johari Window) in a space that's safe to take the risks necessary to grow. Coaching is distinct from therapy; as a coach, I'm there to facilitate your growth. I am there to help someone who is functional thrive and become exceptional.

A typical coaching session with a new client starts with asking what they're looking to use the time for, moving into discovering influences and factors that impact that desire and then setting the steps and goals necessary. The coaching relationship is one of confidentiality; short of threatening to harm yourself or others or breaking the law, anything that we discuss stays with me unless I receive your permission to discuss it elsewhere.

Who's the best candidate for coaching? Almost anyone! If you have something that you need help thinking through or are just trying to work out how best to advance your goals (or even need help to figure out what your goals ARE), then you're a perfect fit for coaching.

Typically I would charge $30 for a half-hour session or $50 for an hour session. Unfortunately, I can only offer this service to people willing to travel to Claremont, CA or have me at their home or a suitable space where we can hear each other with some privacy within a 20 mile radius around Claremont. If you must come to me, I need advanced notice to reserve a private space or we can have the session at a local cafe/restaurant halfway between us. If you want to discuss increased payment, however, (to cover travel), feel free to hit me up.

Training & Qualifications

I've studied Gestalt coaching with over 40 hours of coaching experience under master-coach supervision and more than 20 with private clients, and have nearly completed the LeAD Coaching Certification program at Claremont Graduate University. While I am unlicensed by any major coaching group (such as the ICF) that is a personal future goal.

Availability & Preferences

I'm typically free in the morning and early afternoon on Mondays, the morning on Wednesdays, and the Morning on Thursdays. Otherwise, I have availability on weekends and most evenings, I just need to schedule in advance.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

About Michael Robinson

I'm a graduate student in Organizational Behavior/Psychology. My research interests center around the effects of social identity in the workplace, especially transgender and queer identities. Addition...ally, I'm interested in followership and understanding why people choose to follow and how/if they incorporate that into their self-concepts. In the past I've taught K-8 music, and participate in the summer volunteering group that teaches English to disadvantaged Israeli children. When it comes to my abilities and services that I can offer the Simbi community, I have some experience in Gestalt Personal Development coaching and am certified for Leadership Development coaching. I've been reading tarot since I was 14 and used to read professionally for private clients and groups as well as other related forms of divination. I take a very no-nonsense orientation to divination; the point isn't to predict the future but to take a step back and better understand my client's context. What I've found is that simply by examining their context through the lens of tarot clients come to new and novel understandings of their presenting problems in order to really discover the roots of their issues. I believe that the future isn't set in stone and that future-oriented tarot only shows one possibility; I'd rather see how to reach the possibility desired by my client. I've also been tie-dyeing for years and would love to help teach others how to do fun and novel things like adding messages, symmetrical image, and more. While I don't offer it here yet, feel free to hit me up if you want advice or to have me help at a party or similar. When it comes to social services I'm looking for, I am always interested in learning new creative skills. Likewise, I speak very conversational (aka like a five-year-old's level) Hebrew and would love the chance to practice and get better. I've always been super curious about getting a manicure or facial, and I'd love to discuss possibly getting tailoring (and would of course pay for materials).show more
