I'm passionate about nature and have taken my education degree outdoors to start my own bilingual nature school called Chavitos Nature School. My favorite things are to connect to plants, trees and water with my children and husband. Working for myself allowed me to follow my bliss which is a beautiful mix of international travel, alternative education, unfiltered nature and family which allowed me to live six months in Guatemala and six months in Tacoma. I love a simple and slow lifestyle. I appreciate and try to align my lifestyle with the way of our ancestors, connecting to herbal medicine, sleep, and following the natural rhythms of the seasons. Being biracial is a huge part of my identify. In all I do I try to advocate and be a voice for racial and social injustice. For me this looks like reeducating my sons, providing a diverse learning environment at my schools, relearning history through personal historical accounts and asking questions about the racism I see in myself.
