Lessons in Small Caged Animal Care

10

10 per session

Friendly Practical Lessons in how to handle the various kinds of caged fur babies we have come through on their way to adoption at a private rescue. You may be Observing how to make medications, rolling pills, and dosages. Watching common first aid care, grooming, handling, feeding, infant care, nutrition, and training.

Learn how to research the needs of a prospective pet. We can cover cage space, height, square footage, Companionship needs, heat, bedding, housing, various nutritional needs, and mixing feed for various animals. We also have the options of possible field trips to feed stores, pet stores, vet offices, and more. This variety depends on how long you want the lessons to last in terms of depth.

As the occasion arises there will be chances to observe orphan care, possible wound care, shots, worming, abscess drainage, cysts and boil heat packing, ear infection care, birthing, and hospice care. While it is NOT expected that you actually
watch everything - limiting your observing is perfectly ok - you will be doing the decision making on what you are comfortable seeing.] I want to be up front what kind of things arise in a volunteer situation in a rescue.

You will also be the first on the list to be considered when an animal comes up for adoption.

Training & Qualifications

Nearly 4 decades of managing ranches, rescues for critters of all sizes, and volunteering at various rescues and spay & neuter clinics in two states.

Have worked at an AZ ranch that had circus animals each winter for four years, Bred, Raised, and trained Spanish Mustangs since I was a youth [now 60.] My paternal grandparents had a chinchilla ranch so I was raised with animals my entire life.

Trained by a mobile vet in Washington, several farriers, and a mobile vet in Arizona.

We can also be gathering printed material and links to research for animal care and compiling your own care management book. there is an additional Simbi fee for this to cover actual costs. This does not have to start at once but can be added later once you get a feel for what you want.

About Louise-Jayne Haddaway

Happily Married and a proud mother to a beautiful, talented and creative adult daughter. I have had some very different raising and hence some different views of life in general and how to be sus...tainable even in a big city. I Love to garden and specialize in teaching others how to garden in all kinds of places. I have raised wooden beds that reach to my knees so not only are they deep, but perfect for modified Hugel Kulture gardening. Due to their height - these will be able to be used well into my old age. I am a wild forager, and bring home specimens [when there are plenty] to transplant into a spot in my garden that mimics its placement in the wild. I am a published author in magazines and newspapers, with editing experience and a 4.0 in my journalism studies back in the olden days. [ I also have a degree in counseling.] I work one on one with folks seeking to have lifestyle changes and to gain control over their consumption of food and to conquer diabetes and other dis-eases that are impacted by nutrition. I am active in local bartering groups, and historical re-enactment groups. I am basically a mother earth news kind of gal, tree loving, land nurturing, old style pioneering stock bookworm. I relish living on pennies on the dollar and prefer to be a thrift store maven rather then a consumer of bought new items. I am not into consumerism and thanks to my depression era grandparents raising me for a good chuck of my life, I have the experience and skills to teach others how to live better for less. show more
