Consultation for Pet Fostering
5
Pet fostering is a wonderful way to help save an animal's life who would otherwise die in an animal shelter. There are all kinds of ways to go about it and lots of different types of organizations through which to foster a cat or dog (or bunny or bird or guinea pig!) and I'm here to provide information about it.
Fostering is a great way to see if you are ready to adopt a pet of your own. Many people who foster have recently had a pet pass away and they aren't sure if they want to get another one just yet. Other people just want to do it to help save lives. No matter the reason, it's a highly commendable and rewarding experience! Thousands of animals die needlessly in shelters every year - perfectly healthy animals who are sweet and loving and want nothing more than a chance to live their lives feeling safe and LOVED.
MYTHS ABOUT SHELTER PETS
• They are all mangy mutts.
Wrong. Actually, 25% of all shelter pets in the U.S. are purebred. These include but are not limited to Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Great Danes, and so many more - all of which are put down due to lack of space if not rescued.
• All they have at the shelter are pit bulls.
Wrong. You can find ALL breeds and sizes of animals at the shelter - so many, in fact, there are breed-specific rescues set up just to pull those specific breeds of dogs.
• The animals are there because they are defective or broken.
SO wrong. While many animals in shelters are dumped because of health problems or old age, most of *those* animals are euthanized and not put up for adoption. The ones that ARE adoptable are healthy, sweet, good-natured, and just need love.
That's just a start!! Want to know more?? PLEASE message me. I'm happy to answer any questions you have, do a consultation about pet fostering, or simply provide support if you are already fostering an animal.
