I would love to help your child advance on their instrument! Whether your child picked up their instrument in an orchestra program at school, or you want to get them started on lessons at home, I can help your student develop as a musicians. With beginners, I always make sure to focus on developing a comfortable and correct instrument hold and bow hold. It's very important to me that your student be comfortable and happy while playing their instrument, and poor instruction at the beginning can leave them with major form problems down the road. With intermediate students, we begin to focus on playing with the correct musical style and how to put our own expression into the music. Advanced players will start to expand their repertoire outside of basic lesson books and work on etudes that will challenge them technically and mentally. I love working one-on-one with students; it helps us both grow as musicians. Parents are absolutely welcome in lessons and I would encourage you to consider learning along with your student if they are a beginner!
Training & Qualifications
I have a Bachelor's in Music in Education with a focus in Strings from Miami University, as well as four years teaching experience in public and private schools. I have been playing viola for more than 15 years.
