I'm a 24-year-old college graduate who is struggling a little in this economy to find a job that I love *and* that pays the bills. My degree is in social work, and my passion is educational inequity. I worked as an Americorps volunteer for 6 months with the organization Community in Schools, and I absolutely loved it.
Currently, I have two jobs, working full time for DSHS as an eligibility interviewer and part time at the YMCA as a childcare provider. (This does make my schedule a little erratic when providing services, but I promise I can find the time!) I like my jobs, but I love being able to give back outside of the confines of employment. This includes everything from volunteering and civic engagement to donating goods and money to local charities. I find my life is more enriched when I give back, and that includes participating in the Simbi community. I love being able to contribute to this fledgling alternative economy!
In my free time, I dress up in medieval garb and do historical reenactment with the Society for Creative Anachronism. (Because of that hobby, I'm working on getting better at sewing/knitting/crocheting, so a lot of the services I'm looking for revolve around that.) When I'm not doing that, I'm having board game nights with my friends, daydreaming about the next exciting cut and/or color for my hair, playing with my cat Glen Coco, and watching Star Trek on Netflix (I'm almost done with Voyager!).
