Youth Suicide Prevention
5
Hi all!
We are looking for donations of artwork: Any medium, any theme*, and any size.
We are also looking for gift cards, gift baskets, service certificates, and good quality art supplies.
Why? The Youth Suicide Prevention Group, Voz y Corazõn (Voice and Heart) needs your help! We run a fundraiser once a year during the second weekend of June. This is our only chance to gain enough funding for the entire year. This is a non-profit 501c, so you will receive a tax deduction form for each donation.
What we do: We run small (10-15) art groups with the youth that helps them deal with life. Each group is assigned a mentor and a local artist and the youth decide what they want to make, completely for FREE so that every youth and family can benefit from this time.
What we need: We need your artwork! Any medium, any theme*, any size. Last year, donations included handmade jewelry, paintings , handmade scarves and purses, sculptures, prints, and leathercrafting.
We also accept gift cards, service vouchers, online service vouchers, and good quality art supplies (we always need bulk paint, paper, glue, coloring supplies, wood blocks, masks, tapes, various beads, clay, yarn & wool, tools, printing services, and items for repurposing: magazines, containers, and good cardboard. In each group, the youth are also provided with snacks (sometimes this is all they will get until the next day of school), so gift cards for supermarkets are greatly appreciated.
When: Donations must be delivered on your own dime (sorry! or we can meet if you live in the Denver Metro), by the first week of June.
Where: Message me for details: we cannot accept delivered items until Mid-April due to space constraints, but arrangements can be made.
Questions? Feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns. Last year, we also relied on Simbi for donations of artwork (to be sold) and services/gift cards. With your help, we can increase our much needed amount of groups at least back to our former amount of 35. Currently, we can only afford to fund 27 and there's a demand in the community for over 45 groups around the Denver Metro area.
*We do accept any theme of artwork, however, keep in mind that our youth (age 9-21) attend the fundraiser. If you have a theme that may be triggering or not age appropriate, we will still accept the item, but it's possible that it may not be displayed at the fundraiser until later in the evening.
