Working with yarn is a great stress reducer! Learn a new skill and keep warm too! I can teach you crochet, including how to read a pattern, basic and intermediate stitches, and pattern and yarn selection. I find that this service is best provided in person, as I can correct your form and demonstrate stitches to you more easily. I have yarn and hooks to teach with so it is not necessary to bring your own unless you have a specific project in mind. I have patterns too if you're looking for inspiration. I can help you if you run into problems, or teach you from scratch if you like. I'm very patient and I love teaching people. You can come to my house, or we can meet somewhere public if you prefer. I prefer NOT driving into Philadelphia as heavy traffic makes me nervous.
Training & Qualifications
I have been crocheting ever since I was little, and I have made several projects. I have made hats, scarves, blankets, and even a sweater once (see pic). I consider myself an intermediate crocheter as there is always more to learn, but I can do single crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, half double crochet, increasing and decreasing stitches and more. My grandmother taught me classic crochet technique and I aspire to one day be able to crochet without looking at my work like she could. (I'm almost there) I am a member of a casual group that meets twice a month for knitting and crocheting (and snacking and drinking and joking around) and I'm always looking for people who love working with yarn.
Availability & Preferences
I am usually free during the day and late evenings, but my schedule changes a lot. Let's chat and maybe we can find a time that works for both of us.
