In my spare time, I teach CPS kids about STEM fields as well as do an activity with them. We usually do a 20-30 minute activity, which is what I am offering.
Kids usually love these experiments and we get asked all the time if we can do more!
STEM activities usually include the following:
+Explain Scientific phenomena to kids, why a certain reaction, outcome is more likely, in terms they can understand.
+Do a 20 minute scientific activity with up to four kids (ages 5-16).
+Activities usually revolve around Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics.
+In order to get the most out of the visit, kids should be around the same age group.
+Parents will need to provide materials or be able to reimburse for materials (you can keep what is not used).
+ We can discuss different activity options based on your preferences.
Training & Qualifications
I am a Chemical Engineering Student and am also the Outreach Coordinator in my Engineering Society. This means that it's my job to visit different schools in the Chicagoland area to do these activities, something I find really rewarding and fun!
Fun fact: I also consider myself a scientist, I work in a research lab and really enjoy what I do!
