Breakdance lesson

15

15 per session - Virtual OK - Posted Jul 27, 2017

It doesn't matter if you are already a dancer, or if you're completely rhythm illiterate, I will teach you basic beginner moves, and if you're up for the challenge, we can move on to intermediate and expert moves! Breaking is so much more than just doing dynamic spinning moves on the floor.
If you're a beginner, I will mostly teach you about the four categories of movements (toprock, footwork, freeze, powermove), while working on groove, style, and understanding rhythm. For intermediate level, we will look at transitions, freeze stackings, practice drills, powermoves ranging from swipes to flares.
The general breakdown of the hour is 5-10 minutes warm up and stretch, 5-10 minutes demo of a move (x3 moves), 10-15 minutes practice of those moves (time break down is variable). Obviously, prepare to sweat! Your upper body and core will take a toll ;)
You can be the life of the party for the rest of your life!

PS: I can also teach a group of people too if you want to do it with friends (extra Simbi? we'll talk)

About Ignatius Chan

I like to help people, I like to inspire people to become better than themselves. I'm a civilian paramedic, army medic, I teach break dance on the side and I still compete and train, I play and mix mu...sic for fun. I've learned piano for over 11 years (I stopped a little over 10 years ago), self taught guitar, self taught drums, and DJ-ing and mixing. I think that teaching is one of my favorite things to do in the world, so eventually I'd like to teach paramedics, share my experiences with the young fresh blood. As for dancing, although I don't dance as a career, I'm pretty serious about it, and I train hard for competitions. I absolutely love teaching it, my students' accomplishments and pride are my best reward. I'm always up for a challenge, especially if it's a physical one. I live in Montreal and I'm perfectly trilingual (English, French, Chinese), although my writing and reading in Chinese is in a slow decline... What more can I say about myself? I don't like autobiographies.show more
