This is a chance to do a bit of a field trip with me giving you the attention that you need to start picking up skills to do charity work on the street through learning a form of street ministry that I practice with the population of about 5000 homeless, and many more thousand housed individuals. ( to use my training service, you may or may not interact with more than a dozen people at all.)

My role as Chico’s Interfaith Street Minister allows me ample opportunities to perform the art of Street Ministry, as learned from my former Chaplains’ examples and ecclesiastical studies. I spent 3y working on the Mendocino North Coast, following my ordainment, and was then called to build a Street Ministry for Chico, CA. I am running a program to bring people out onto the street to get an idea what street ministry is, why it’s important, and what type of environment this work entails. I am fulfilling my calling with a great talent and no small amount of skill for this work. Decades of insights and education help me do this job, and I would like to give the skills I’ve earned to others to help them work with the street community. This is not an internship nor an official apprenticeship, but a brief course in real needs awareness and street ministry practices. This is full immersion into the street population but with the protection of my skill and ability to keep you safe. It is not my intention to put any person in a risky situation at all, just to place somebody in the environment and talk to them about the environment and how street ministry applies.

Depending on your interest level, I am willing to spend an afternoon of four or more hours with you, or even overnight on the street with you, for up to eight hours, depending where you are at with comfort and learning. You will not be completely comfortable on an overnight, and that is part of the point. I reiterate that you will be safe, however, with your basic needs taken care of if you are willing to follow my guidance.

My goal in this program is to help people get experience with Street ministry in order to generate interest in street ministry in the Chico area. I’m providing this service through this network, but I am providing it for the greater community of Chico through you, and your charitable interest. I do have a long-term hope that enough people will run through this program with me to start creating allies that might be interested in joining the official street ministry as I build it. Chico interfaith street ministry is for Chico, and I build it for Chicoans to operate in service to their population. There’s a chance for you to get a taste of what street ministry can be in this community and an opportunity to get your foot in the door at the ground level to help build a foundation that will uplift the street population, and the community of Chico overall.

Any belief system of yours is ok if it is loving in outlook. This is interfaith service. This is bringing spirituality to people through secular means, regardless of their personal creeds. This is a way to do service to some of the most damaged and disadvantaged human beings who live with us in Chico.

If you are interested in second or third sessions, we may re-negotiate service-trade terms in your favor, in order to start getting some in-depth training into you. It’s up to you and your motivation to be of service. The work/service trade is to show you are serious in receiving my gift.
