Reiki is a universal energy that reminds our bodies how to heal itself. So it doesn't matter what the issue is- low energy, insomnia, headaches... our bodies know what to do. Sometimes we just need a little jump start.
A reiki practitioner is simply "attuned" to this energy by a qualified reiki master, tapping into this energy by focusing on different symbols, depending on the client and their issues.
A session can last anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours, depending on what your body and spirit need. Neither our bodies nor the universal life force can be rushed! The client lies down on their back while the practitioner moves their hands along the client's body- usually in direct contact, unless the client prefers more distance.
It's generally a very relaxing experience for the client as they feel their bodies receiving the nurturing universal energy. Sometimes the relief is instant; sometimes it takes a while for it to kick in; and chronic pains may crave multiple sessions, though not necessarily.
Training & Qualifications
I received my Level 1 and Level 2 reiki attunements in NY in 2007. My reiki master actually developed his own method, Alef Reiki. So called because the energy is drawn from the Hebrew alphabet and Kabbalah. It does not rely on different symbols for different circumstances- rather, it is one very powerful, all inclusive energy that is above distinctions.
About two years later he gave me Level 1 and Level 2 "regular" reiki attunements, teaching me the symbols most practitioners use. It was kind of just for the heck of it, as I still practice only Alef Reiki.
Availability & Preferences
It's best to meet at your place. A massage table is ideal, though putting a mattress atop a higher surface will work just as well. (You'll be on your back, so you won't need that special opening for your face.)
About Gavriel Green
I like exploring all extremes and opposites, and am content to come to no conclusion- to just let the experience be. I was raised as an Orthodox Jew on the east coast, and am currently a spiritual ...atheist on the west coast. I also lived in Israel for the bulk of my adulthood, both as Hassidic and as secular. I've gone through my eat-anything-that-used-to-breathe phase, and through multiple vegan phases. I currently try to just listen to my body, and feed it what it needs in the moment. Ekharte Tolle is my hero. Some of my fondest memories are being in the Buddhist monastery in Chang Mai, Thailand. And surfing the Mediterranean Sea (while living in Tel Aviv as a barber). My current goal is to discover my bliss and then follow it. The world needs more authentic people who are living their dreams, being true to themselves. I hope to inspire others to get in touch with their spirit and trust it, despite what the world says. And I look forward to having fun together!show moreOpen to other proposals
